 Dr. Fernando D. Testai is the Interim Department Head of Neurology and Rehabilitation at UI Health. An internationally recognized vascular neurologist and neuroscientist, Dr. Testai’s clinical and research expertise encompasses cerebrovascular disease, stroke prevention, brain health, and the mechanisms underlying brain injury and cognitive decline. He has participated in multiple research programs supported by the National Institutes of Health, with a focus on translational approaches to cerebrovascular disease and brain health. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributed extensively to the advancement of stroke and brain health science.
   
A nationally recognized leader within the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Dr. Testai is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and has served in leadership roles within the Association’s Stroke Brain Health Committee. He has chaired several AHA scientific statements related to brain health and continues to contribute to national initiatives addressing the intersection of cardiovascular and brain health.
